Of all the current U.S. Supreme Court cases involving the question of being able to live out your faith while earning a living — this one takes the cake!

What’s at stake in Aaron and Melissa Kleins’ “Sweet Cakes By Melissa” case is one of the most critical and pressing issues NOT addressed in the narrow Masterpiece Cakeshop ruling from earlier this year.

Right now, First Liberty is fighting on behalf of Aaron and Melissa Klein, asking the Supreme Court to reverse the State of Oregon’s decision that forced them out of business and penalized them $135,000 for refusing to create a government-approved message.

What’s at stake for Aaron and Melissa, and thousands of other faith-based business owners across the country, is whether or not the government can force citizens to speak and create messages that conflict with their deeply held religious beliefs.

Free speech has always included the freedom NOT to speak the government’s message. What’s more, the Supreme Court has already ruled that government officials cannot be hostile toward the religious beliefs of citizens.

And now, we’re asking the U.S. Supreme Court to fill in the key missing piece and affirm that it’s perfectly reasonable for people of faith to operate their business according to their beliefs and without fear of condemnation by the government.

Please join First Liberty today in fighting on the frontlines of defending and protecting religious freedom in America.
